It honestly breaks my heart to see people who don’t have anything. I’ve been very blessed to have the necessities such as clothing, shelter, clean water, etc. Year round, there are people who have nothing, literally. They live on the streets, gathering up all the little scraps of food that they can just to have something to fill their stomachs. It hurts a lot to see homeless/less fortunate families as well, because that just means they have more people that they need to provide for. I wish our government would spend money on feeding the less fortunate rather than funding wars or other things that aren’t beneficial to our own country. I appreciate all that our government does to help third-world countries, such as sending money to Africa to help build shelters for homeless children and things like that, but they have to remember that there are people here in the United States who are suffering as well—some of which served our country at one point in time.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, count your blessings. Especially at this time of the year when it’s cold and you’re receiving materialistic things that you really don’t need. The holidays are about giving, so if you find an urge in your heart to do a kind deed and give back to someone, even in the slightest way possible, go for it.
